What is the Coast Guard Auxiliary? The Coast Guard Auxiliary is is the volunteer civilian, non-military component of the United States Coast Guard. Auxiliarists serve side-by-side with members of the Coast Guard and wear similar uniforms. We are a diverse group of about 35,000 people. Our love of the water, knowledge of boating, and willingness to serve fellow boaters binds us together to promote safe boating.

How and why should I join the Auxiliary? Applicants must be at least 17 years old (no upper age limit) and a U.S. citizen. You must have no felony convictions. No prior military service or experience is necessary, only a desire to contribute to the mission of the Auxiliary and the Coast Guard. There is no one definitive answer why you should join, but you will get valuable training and education on boating safety that you can pass on to the community. You'll make life-long friendships and experience things that many will never get the opportunity to participate in. Contact Ted Rudisill for more information.
